A different kind of zebra crossing

When designing parking areas, decision makers usually focus on showing where a parking lot ends and where the next one starts. In Horgen, Switzerland, the DEGAROUTE® based area marking on a street in front of a railway station fulfills even more functions.

At this location in Horgen, the road has been designed so that pedestrians can cross at any point along the road. Five different colored area markings were applied in unusual shapes across the entire road, increasing the attention of drivers and causing them to reduce their speed.

After these uncommon anti-skid markings had been applied in 2009, the railway street of Horgen developed into a pleasant meeting area which gained public attention in newspapers and magazines across Switzerland.
