The Decade of Action for Road Safety 2011-2020


The UN initiative strives to reduce injuries and deaths caused by traffic accidents.


On May 11, 2011 the Decade of Action for Road Safety 2011-2020 was officially launched. One hundred governments in the UN General Assembly have vowed to reduce the number of injuries and deaths caused by traffic accidents.

The program has chosen “Together we can save millions of lives” as its slogan. Corporate and individual supporters can show their support with a yellow hangtag. It is meant so serve as a symbol for collective action against the tragedy of road deaths. The organizers hope it will become just as iconic as the Red Ribbon that stands for AIDS awareness.
