DEGALAN® IM for Engineering Plastics

DEGALAN® IM pure acrylic core-shell impact modifiers are used to improve the impact performance of engineering plastics, such as polyamides, polyesters and polycarbonate at elevated temperatures as well as at temperatures of 0°C and below. In polyamides, for instance, DEGALAN® IM is most suitable for improving the impact resistance of glass-filled PAs in dry condition with a minimum impact on viscosity. In polyesters, for instance, impact resistant PBT compounds with excellent electrical properties and good melt flow are obtained with DEGALAN® IM.

Employed levels as low as 5 wt% content, DEGALAN® IM provides significantly improved impact resistance and suppression of crack propagation, while retaining other mechanical properties of the parts. Moreover, DEGALAN® IM provides good control of viscosity, excellent weatherability, and UV and heat stability that acrylics are well known for. This makes DEGALAN® IM particularly suitable for outdoor and mold-in color applications as well as for E&E applications.  Noteworthy is its outstanding processability, thanks to good dispersibility and predefined rubber particle size. This goes hand in hand with its high level of compatibility with other additives for engineering plastics, such as stabilizers, lubricants, pigments, and fillers.

DEGALAN® IM complies with FDA 21 CFR Section 175.300, and is suitable for food contact. All applicable restrictions have to be considered.
